Rome: The security strategy for the Jubilee 2025 continues
The security strategy planned by the Rome Police Headquarters in preparation for the Holy Year continues at a brisk pace. It aims to maintain a high level of prevention and public safety through regular inter-agency operations spanning the urban fabric, from the city center to the outskirts. The focus is on specific targets, identified and monitored for weeks during ongoing routine and extraordinary territorial control operations, with the shared goal of addressing urban decay situations that foster real illegality and undermine citizens’ sense of security. Among the areas involved in the operation are the neighborhoods of Fidene, Aurelio, and San Lorenzo. More than 200 individuals have been identified, and 7 administrative violations have been issued, amounting to over €11,500 in fines. Among the inspected establishments, one located in Piazza Monte Gennaro was subject to a closure order by the Chief of Police under Article 100 of the Consolidated Text of Public Safety Laws (T.U.L.P.S.). The bar, which had been under surveillance by agents from the Fidene-Serpentara District for some time due to numerous police interventions following recurring disorder among patrons, will remain closed for seven days. The measure was deemed necessary as a response to a concrete threat to public order, morality, and citizens’ safety, particularly residents, whose perception of legality had been significantly compromised by the establishment’s clientele.
